Proposal

Hi, I'm Sauro gaudenzi, my observer code is GSAD, following the AAVSO 855 alert I ask for the use of a telescope to observe the subject V711 Tau, Rc is the preferred filter but the V filter is also fine, one shot per night is required until March 17th, with a short exposure of a few seconds, no more. Miki Kurihara (graduate student, University of Tokyo, ISIS/JAXA) and colleagues requested the assistance of AAVSO observatories in monitoring the bright star RS CVn V711 Tau (HR 1099) (5.71 - 5.94 V) in support of satellite X-ray observations to be accomplished with the X-ray imaging spectroscopy (XRISM) mission.

XRISM observations have been scheduled for March 6, 2024 - 10 UT (5 nights).

Photometry is required starting now and will continue until March 17. If flares in the X-ray band are observed (notification will be posted in the forum thread above), follow-up observations later (~one week) will be appreciated.
