Target: Sigma Gem
Variable Type: RS
RS Canum Venaticorum-type binary system

Magnitude Range: 4.13 - 4.29 V

To aid AAVSO Alert Notice 837 - immediate observations of Sigma Gem from October 18th, 2023 through December 15, 2023.
Background: "One of the primary challenges to understanding both stars and the planets orbiting them is being able to map the surfaces of stars". These observations will aid in this effort. TESS will be monitoring Sigma Gem during this same period and these observations are in aid to TESS. Also the CHARA optical interferometer will monitor Sigma Gem at the same time, to supply surface mapping of the star and star spots. These B, V, R, I filtered observations will aid in understanding the variation of the star related to the stars surface.

Objective: Monitor Sigma Gem from October 18th to December 15, 2023 in B, V, R, I filters nightly. Sig Gem is currently early morning target, and perfect for AAVSOnet.

Filters: B, V, R, I (2 images per filter)

Images delivered to VPHOT for analysis and upload to AAVSO.
