Proposal

I would like to request follow-up of the anomalous young stellar object V1117 HER in order to cover fadings, which frequently occurs in this star. These cyclic dimmings in brightness could be caused by changing structures of circumstellar dust, which makes the star an interesting target to monitor.

Observations can be made 3 or 4 times a week on BVRI filters at exposures according to the magnitude informed in the proposal. Remembering that the star can exceed the minimum value informed, sometimes reaching close to magnitude 16.

The main objective of this proposal is to provide data to the AAVSO database that may be used by researchers through pro-am collaboration.

I would like to thank the team for their availability to access the robotic telescopes. In my times of treatment for osteonecrosis, such equipment is the alternative that allowed me to continue contributing to the observations of variable stars since I had to reduce the activity of visual observation.

From Arne: "Peter Bealo (Proposal #216) was allocated this target, as Dirk notes. He is still getting data from BSM_NH2 and BSM_NM and submitting it to the AAVSO. There are three ways to proceed:
- reject proposal #367 from da Silva
- split the target, so that Bealo gets images from one telescope and da Silva get images from another telescope
- end proposal #216 and start proposal #367"

It sounds like #2 might be the best. I'll check with Peter.

After talking to Peter, we think it is best to let him continue to work this star, so we will decline this proposal.
