Proposal

At the last section leader meeting, it was suggested utilizing the BSM to monitor more scientifically relevant LPVs. To determine potential targets, I utilized a list of 51 pulsating red giant stars which are exhibiting unusual/and or changing behaviors which was published by Dr. Percy in 2017. These stars are all exhibiting some sort of period and/or amplitude change. I looked in the AID to see how well each of these stars is being covered photometrically. Most of the stars are covered visually, but would benefit from precise multi-band photometry. Each star fell into 1 of 4 broad categories, well-covered, sporadically/inconsistently covered (qty 5), well-covered in the past but not recently (qty 8), and not covered at all (10). One star did not fit into these categories as it was well covered for 1 cycle, but not covered otherwise. The stars which were well covered and but are no longer is the result of a high-level observer shifting his focus from LPVs to studying rotation in asteroids. I propose initiating BSM multi-band photometry coverage (B, V, R, I) for the 24 stars which are inconsistently covered, no longer covered, or not covered at all. Observations every 10-14 days for each will be sufficient to monitor for further changes in behavior from these stars.

I submitted 24 targets. Did all go through because I only see 1 displayed here?

There is a bug in the proposal software causing this problem. Please list the 24 targets in a comment.

Committed to NH2, NM and Berry. Check exposures. They are set for max magnitude and assume stacking to help at min mag.
