| Proposal | Dear Team, I am a french amateur astronomer, studying double stars. We other amateurs, we are going to edit a paper about nearby stars, concerning Luyten 726-8, a double at 8 light years from the sun, a very important astrophysicist object. This star, BL Cet, has no max magnitude indicated in vsx, and min mag is around 12. It is an UV flare star. My proposal is to follow this important neighouring star to measure the max magnitude, so a long surveyy is necessary The use of at least 2 filters is much better : an IR filter (as it is a brown dwarf) and V filter seems best to begin Thanks |

The TAC is concerned that this would be a very difficult project to do from the ground because the separation between UV Cet and BL Cet is 1"-2" and would require exemplary seeing and PSF fitting or difference imaging. Are you prepared to do that?

One reviewer sums up the TAC's feeling on this project:
"Bottom line: though this is a very interesting binary, I don't see how AAVSOnet, or frankly any ground-based facility, would be useful. Maybe someone else has a different opinion. Getting a few images under good seeing might be a fun project to look at a really close double, but that would be it."
